Our commitment pushes development forward

Silentia was started by a few genuine entrepreneurs, whose passion was product development. A significant market need lead us into the business line in which we have remained faithful over the years. Thanks to our well established contacts with health care personnel, we became aware of the fact that there was a big need within the health care sector for an easier and more hygienic, privacy screen product than curtains.

In the spring of 1990 the first version of the Silentia folding screen was introduced, and in addition to that our first patent was registered. The screen at this point became a complete new product in health care environments, and it differed very much from the commonly used ceiling mounted curtains. The screen’s form and functions had been tested by health care personnel and received a warm welcome. To its advantages, compared to curtains, it let daylight into a room, it was easy to clean without being removed, and it preserved patient privacy without interfering with ceiling lifts and other equipment. Later that year, our first delivery was sent to a hospital in Jönköping, Sweden.

In 1991 the Silentia Folding Screen was internationally introduced at a fair in Germany. Even here the innovation was well received, which helped sales go up quickly. As a result of this start outside of our domestic market, other countries started to show their interest. Today, Silentia Screens are being used in over 50 countries around the world.

In 2000 the Mobile Bed End Screen was introduced.

In 2003 our production was brought in-house.

In 2008 the company moved into a newly built facility in Falkenberg, Sweden.

In 2010 several new products were added to what is now considered an entire screen system. This flexible system embraces both folded and fixed screens, available wall-mounted or fixed, as well as in various heights and lengths. Development of Daylight, a translucent, frosted screen was added and it was during this year that we created The Easy Concept (EasyClean, EasyReturn and EasyClick). Another change this year was the introduction of a fully automated final robot-assembly, which ensures both rational and quality assured production.

In 2012 we launched our first printed screens, produced in customized colors or with patterns on translucent panels that allow more daylight into the room.

In 2014 we launched The Shower Screen, especially adapted for showering patients who are in need of assistance.

During the past 25 years, and since the beginning of the Silentia story, our products have undergone continuous development. The basic idea of privacy screens may be simple and obvious, but we are always in search for improvements, whether it concerns construction, design or processes, such as choice of material, production methods or sustainability concerns.
